DR. MARIANO TRILLO

Medical Director. General and Child-Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Mariano Trillo graduated from medical school in Madrid in 1983. In 1984 moved to the USA. He started his postgraduate training as a first-year resident in Internal Medicine in Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital (Pontiac, Michigan). He continued a a resident in Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota) and completed his training with a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the same center. After returning to Spain en 1991, he joined Clínica Quirón Barcelona in 1992, as a consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In 1996 he created, along with Dra. Luisa Tiffon and two psychologists, Centro Bigai, where he was exclusively in private practice until 2006, when he founded Avanza, center which he owns and where he practices as medical director and staff Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.

Since the beginning of his training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Dr. Trillo has had a very special interest in the study and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder and related disorders. He has been in the Expert Committee of ADANA Foundation, a non-for -profit organization created to improve the quality of life of individuals and families with ADHD, since it started back in 1997, and is one of the teachers in the Postgraduate Degree “Expert in ADHD, Learning disorders and Conduct disorders”; some of the students learn the practical contents of the course in “Avanza”. Dr. Trillo teaches frequently in professional meetings in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as in other Universities (i.e. Law degree at ESADE) and treatment centers (i.e. ITA, a residential treatment center for behavioural and eating disorders). He collaborates with pharmaceutical companies in educational activities and research. He is also involved in activities teaching families, teachers and other professionals through lectures or media appearances (radio, TV and written media).
